From Imperial Roots to Revival

Keramika Liboje traces its origins back to 1815, evolving through various ownerships and transformations over two centuries. After a period of decline and bankruptcy, the Bojnec family took over the company in 2009 and began its revitalization. Since 2022, production has continued at a new location, where the tradition of hand-painted ceramics and high-quality bakeware lives on.

Over 200 Years of Tradition

The ceramic factory represents the backbone of the Slovenian ceramic industry, and its products were widely recognized both domestically and internationally.

Two Centuries of Slovenian Ceramic Tradition

The Story of
Keramika Liboje

The predecessor of the company was the Schütz enterprise, which traces its origins back to the year 1815, when it was founded by Ignac Schmidl. In 1870, the Schütz brothers from Moravia built a factory at the present location. In 1922, the factory, along with a smaller one in Slovenski Dol near Petrovče, was taken over by the shareholder company Zagorka from Zagreb, which established the Keramična industrija, d.d. After 1945, the company underwent a complete renovation. In 1946, the government of the People's Republic of Slovenia founded Keramična industrija Liboje pri Celju. In 1974, the company was reorganized as Keramična industrija Liboje Celje, Kasaze. Following the privatization process, the company was restructured into a limited liability company by court decision in 1992 under the name KILI, Keramična industrija Liboje d.o.o. In 2005, KILI entered compulsory settlement proceedings, followed by liquidation in 2008 and bankruptcy proceedings in 2009. At that time, Mr. Alojz Bojnec took over the company and began the revitalization and reorganization of production under the brand name Keramika Liboje 1815. In 2022, production was relocated to a new site in Slovenia, where the company continues to uphold its dedication to hand-painted ceramics and focuse on high-quality ceramic bakeware. Today, the company is managed by Mr. Alojz Bojnec together with his sons.
